The Millstreet Team are pleased to announce further information about the Millstreet International Welcome Tour which returns to the Green Glens Arena from Tuesday 27th March – Monday 2nd April.
Established six years ago, the Welcome Tour has developed a reputation as the ideal season opener due to the variety of competitions on offer. Nearly 100 events are due to take place ranging from Newcomer Ponies up to CSI1* FEI classes and competitors and their connections will travel from across Ireland looking to take home their share of the €25,000 prize fund on offer. Great Britain’s Izzy Taylor recorded her second success of the week at Millstreet in Co. Cork this afternoon as she won the feature Noel C. Duggan Engineering CCI3* on the closing day of the 2017 Millstreet International Horse Trials. Riding Alex Phillips 15-year-old warmblood gelding ‘Perfect Stranger,’ the regular visitor to Ireland and recent winner of the CIC3* class at Kilguilkey House International was lying in second place after dressage and cross country, just behind New Zealand’s Blyth Tait (Havanna van’t Castaneahof). Competition got underway in Millstreet, Co. Cork this afternoon as athletes from ten nations arrived for Millstreet International Horse Trials. The venue, owned and operated by the Duggan Family, hosted the FEI European Eventing Championships for Young Riders and Juniors just four weeks ago and an equally world-class field representing ten different nations will contest this weekend’s competition. With Millstreet International Horse Show in full swing this week, visitors to the Co. Cork venue may be unaware that work is gathering pace just 500m away as the Horse Trials team continue to prepare for Millstreet International Horse Trials which take place from 23rd – 27th August.

The climax of the ‘FEI EUROPEAN EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YOUNG RIDERS PRESENTED BY CONNOLLY’S RED MILLS took place on Sunday afternoon under bright skies at the Green Glens Arena.
Germany’s Young Rider team did not want to be outdone by their Junior team who had won Gold earlier in the day and duly won Team Gold on a score of 133.70. There was drama to the end over the James Tarrant designed show-jumping course and the lead changed hands several times during the last session. (more…)
