A Venue with a Star-Studded History
While Green Glens is best known for its world-class equestrian events, it has also made history in other remarkable ways. One of its most iconic moments came in 1993, when the venue hosted the Eurovision Song Contest. Following Ireland’s 1992 victory in Sweden, owner Noel C. Duggan offered the Green Glens Arena to RTÉ — turning Millstreet into the unexpected yet unforgettable home of Eurovision.
Thanks to Noel C’s vision and the incredible spirit of the local community, the world’s spotlight shone on Millstreet as it welcomed artists, fans, and media from across the globe. It remains a proud moment in both local and Irish history.
One Night in Millstreet – A Knockout Moment in History
In 1995, Noel C. Duggan once again put Millstreet on the global stage — this time with World Title Boxing at the Green Glens Arena. Irish champion Steve Collins faced off against Britain’s Chris Eubank in a legendary bout that had fans on the edge of their seats. When the final bell rang, Collins emerged victorious, and Millstreet had made sporting history.
Nearly 30 years later, the unforgettable night was brought back to life in the acclaimed 2024 documentary “One Night in Millstreet.” The film celebrates not just the fight itself, but the electric atmosphere, the pride of the local community, and the moment Millstreet once again captured the world’s attention.
