The Millstreet Team are pleased to announce further information about the Millstreet International Welcome Tour which returns to the Green Glens Arena from Wednesday 3rd – Sunday 7th April.
Established seven years ago, the Welcome Tour has developed a reputation as the ideal season opener due to the variety of competitions on offer. More than seventy-five events are due to take place ranging from Newcomer Ponies up to CSI1* FEI classes and competitors and their connections will travel from across Ireland looking to take home their share of the €25,000 prize fund on offer. The Millstreet Horse Trials Organising Committee are thrilled to announce that the 2019 International Horse Trials will form part of the Event Rider Masters series.
Launched in 2016, ERM condenses the traditional equestrian three-day event into two days. Including all three disciplines – Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country, each phase of every world-class competitor is live streamed and included in a post produced television highlights show which airs in 101 countries worldwide. The FEI Eventing Nations Cup in Millstreet, Ireland ended with a victory for France, with Great Britain settling for second and Ireland cruising to an easy third place. Olympic champions France were leading the scoreboard going into the Jumping phase and with only less than one penalty separating France in first place from Great Britain in second for this event, the pressure was tangible. Statement from the Organisers of the Millstreet International Horse Trials
It is with great sadness that we announce that BGS Country Dreams, ridden and owned by Patrick Martin BYRNE (IRL) died as a result of a fatal accident while competing at The Millstreet International Horse Trials on Saturday 25th August 2018 in the CIC03* FEI Eventing Nations Cup.
BGS Country Dreams a 9 year old gelding had a non-rotational fall at Fence 22, The Gypsy Wagon, during the cross country phase. The combination had jumped clear until that point.
The rider was uninjured in the fall.
The horse will be taken for a post mortem at the Irish Equine Centre.
The organisers of the event, the Duggan family, extend their deepest sympathy to the connections of BGS Country Dreams and Patrick Martin Byrne.
